A few easy ways to help before picture day
You don't need to make picture day a big
event at home. A little planning helps,
but relaxed kids usually photograph best.
What to Wear
Choose clothes your child feels good in
The best outfit is one your child is
comfortable wearing and won't be fussing
with all day.

Solid colors photograph especially well
and help keep the attention on your
child's face.

Small, subtle patterns are usually
fine too.

Very large logos, words, or busy
graphics can sometimes pull attention
away from the portrait.

Choose colors your child normally
feels comfortable and confident wearing.

If your school has a uniform or specific
picture-day dress requirement, follow
the information provided by your school.
Don't overthink it.
Your child should still look like your
child. Picture day isn't the day they need
an entirely new wardrobe.
Grooming
A quick check is plenty
There is no need to overdo it. A few small
things before school can make picture day
go smoothly.

Style hair the way your child normally
likes to wear it.

Give faces a quick clean before heading
out the door.

Check collars, undershirts, ties, bows,
and necklaces.

Clean eyeglasses if your child wears them.

If your child is sensitive about haircuts
or styling, consider avoiding a major
last-minute change right before
picture day.
Helping Kids Relax
Try not to coach the smile
Kids can become surprisingly serious about
getting a "perfect" picture when they feel
pressure to smile a certain way.

Instead of practicing a smile, simply tell
them to listen to the photographer and
have fun.

Try to avoid reminders like
"don't mess up your hair" or
"make sure you smile right."

If your child is nervous, let them know
picture day is quick and we'll tell them
exactly what to do.

Some children smile big. Some give us a
small smile. Some take a minute to warm up.
That's completely normal.
The Morning Of
Comfort matters more than perfection
A calm morning usually helps more than
trying to make every detail perfect.

Give yourselves enough time so the
morning doesn't feel rushed.

Make sure your child has eaten and is
comfortable in what they're wearing.

Remind them that the photographer will
help with posing and tell them where
to look.

Then send them off to school and let
us take it from there.
After Picture Day
You'll get to see the portraits
Your child's school portrait gallery will
be available online after picture day.
You'll be able to look through the images
at home, choose your favorites, and select
the prints, packages, or digital options
you'd like.
And if something is a little out of place?
That's normal. We routinely make small
adjustments to hair, collars, posture, and
clothing when needed. Your child doesn't
have to arrive looking picture-perfect.
We'll guide them once they're in front of
the camera.
Retakes & Makeup Day
Sometimes a second picture is needed. That’s okay!
If your child was absent on the original picture day,
you do not need to do anything. We will automatically photograph them
on makeup day.
If your child was photographed but needs a retake,
you must register them in advance. The photographer provides the school
with a list of students who have requested retakes, so please register
as early as possible.
Retake registration closes at 9:00 AM the day before makeup day.
Students who are not on the retake list may not be photographed.
Register for a Retake
No registration is needed for students who were absent on the original picture day.
