Before You Book

Questions families ask most often before scheduling senior portraits.

Why schedule a summer senior session?

Summer is the best time to photograph senior portraits. Schedules are more relaxed, students haven't yet been pulled in a dozen different directions by sports, clubs, jobs, and college applications, and we can take our time creating portraits that truly reflect your senior's personality.

During your summer session we'll capture your official yearbook portrait, cap & gown portraits, and any additional outfits included with your selected session—all in one appointment.

Students who complete an upgraded summer session have their yearbook portrait finished before school even begins, allowing them to enjoy senior year without having to come back for the school's yearbook-only photo.

What is included in an upgraded senior session?

Upgraded sessions include the official yearbook portrait, additional portrait options, and cap & gown portraits.

Depending on the session selected, students may also bring additional outfits for more variety.

Do I need to schedule the free yearbook-only photo?

No. The fall yearbook-only session is only for students who do not complete an upgraded summer session.

If your student books an upgraded summer session, their yearbook portrait will be photographed during that appointment.

Do students wear their own cap and gown?

No. We provide the cap and gown for these portraits. Students do not need to wait until graduation to have cap & gown photos taken.

Is the cap & gown session separate?

No. Cap & gown portraits are taken during the senior portrait session and are included with every upgraded session.

What should my student wear?

Yearbook Portrait

Boys: Dress shirt and tie.

Girls: Any school-appropriate blouse or top. Solid colors photograph beautifully, but there is no required uniform shirt or polo.

Additional Portraits

If your session includes additional outfits, students are encouraged to bring clothing that reflects their personality. Popular choices include sports uniforms, formal wear, casual outfits, college gear, dance or cheer attire, music/band uniforms, or other meaningful clothing.

Are there clothing requirements for additional outfits?

No. The school dress guidelines only apply to the official yearbook portrait.

The additional portraits are for your family, so students may wear clothing that reflects their personality and interests, as long as it is appropriate for a school setting.

Can my senior bring props, gear, or personal touches?

Yes! Sports gear, instruments, dance items, college apparel, or anything meaningful to your senior is welcome.

The goal is to create portraits that feel personal, not just formal.

Why are there different clothing recommendations?

Your senior portrait session creates two different types of images:

  • Yearbook Portrait: photographed to meet Mount Saint Charles yearbook requirements.
  • Family Portraits: additional images created for your family with more flexibility in clothing, poses, and style.

Think of it as taking care of the yearbook photo first, then creating portraits that celebrate your student's personality and interests.

Which photo goes in the yearbook?

After the session, you’ll receive a proof gallery and select your favorite image for the yearbook before the school deadline.

Are yearbook photos full-length?

No. The official yearbook portrait is photographed from approximately the waist up to meet Mount Saint Charles yearbook requirements.

Additional portraits and cap & gown images may include more variety depending on the session selected.

How many images will we receive?

Image counts vary slightly by session. Studio sessions generally include approximately 10–12 images to choose from.

Extended and outdoor sessions include more variety depending on the session selected.

Where are sessions held?

All sessions take place at Mount Saint Charles.

If you book a Signature Session, it includes a second date at a location of your choice in addition to the school portraits.

Who will photograph my senior?

Every student is photographed by Bailey or James from Little Fox Portraits. We specialize in helping students feel comfortable, confident, and natural on camera.

Can parents attend the session?

Yes. Parents are welcome to attend the session, especially if they would like to help with outfits, hair, or final image decisions.

What happens if it rains?

Outdoor sessions are weather-dependent.

If you are booked for an Extended Session, we may move the outdoor portion inside and use unique indoor locations at Mount.

If you are booked for a Signature Session with an off-campus location, we will reschedule the outdoor portion if weather will affect the session.

Will there be more appointment dates?

Yes. Additional summer dates are released throughout the season as availability allows.

What if my student can't make the current date?

No problem. New appointments are added throughout the summer, so check back if you don’t see a date that works for your family.

How do I pay for the session?

Session fees are due when booking through the online scheduling link.

Print and digital products are purchased separately after viewing your gallery.

Is there a fee for rescheduling?

A $25 rebooking fee may apply if you miss your appointment without notifying us.
